How long is the Food Manager Program/Course?
The program is 14 hours long.
Is there a final exam in the Food Manager Program?
No, the Food Manager Program does not have a final exam. However, there are end-of-module quizzes. You have unlimited chances to pass each 10-question quiz. You must receive a score of 70% or higher to pass.
Am I required to take the Food Manager Program before completing the exam?
The State of Texas does not require but strongly recommends those intending to take the Food Manager Exam to complete a Food Manager Program first.
Who is required to take the Food Manager Exam?
The Texas Department of State Health Services requires all food establishments under the Texas Health and Safety Code (HSC) to have at least one food manager on site under Rule 229.177. With everyone in the industry required to carry a food handler card, businesses will be looking for employees with Food Manager Certification. Passing the exam is a great way to elevate your qualifications and enhance your resume.
How will I get my certificate after passing the exam?
Once you have completed the exam successfully a downloadable certificate will be made available immediately.
How do I take the exam?
Simply fill out the registration information and then follow the instructions within the exam. You will have 90 minutes to complete the exam, which consists of 75 multiple-choice questions. You must get a 70% or higher to pass.
What if I don’t pass the certification exam?
You have up to two attempts to pass the food manager exam with a score of 70% or higher. If you don’t pass the first time, you can try again for free.
Is the Food Manager Program Texas Department of State Health Services-approved?
Yes, unlike most programs out there, ours has been thoroughly examined and approved by the Texas DSHS. This way, you can know the content we're covering is not only relevant to the duties of a Food Manager but is designed to help you pass the exam the first time.
Is the Food Manager Exam Texas DSHS-approved?
Yes! Our exam has been approved the Texas Department of State Health Services.
How long is the Texas Food Manager certification valid?
The certificate will be valid for five years. After that, it will have to be renewed.
