Which Food Certification Course Is Right for You?
A food handler is a food service employee who works with unpackaged food, food equipment or utensils, or food contact surfaces. Food handler employees include hostesses, barbacks, kitchen staff, bussers and more. Food safety laws outlined in Texas Administrative Code Title 25 describe regulations for retail establishments and employees. Food service employees are required to take the Food Handler Course.
Food establishments in Texas must have at least one certified food manager on-site during operating hours. Along with requirements to carry a food handler card, businesses also require managers to obtain a food manager certification, as outlined in rule §228.33 of the Texas Administrative Code Title 25. Managers are required to pass the Texas Food Manager Exam to earn their certification. If you do not pass the exam on the first attempt, you may retake it once at no additional cost.
What Is TABC Certification?
TABC certification refers to the certification program offered by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC). It is designed to educate individuals who work in the alcoholic beverage industry — including servers, bartenders, managers and store clerks — on responsible alcohol service and sales practices.
Our TABC-certified training promotes responsible alcohol service and helps prevent alcohol-related incidents, all while ensuring compliance with state regulations. Topics include checking IDs, preventing sales to minors, safe alcohol consumption, blood alcohol content (BAC) and more.
Upon successful course completion, you can download your TABC certificate and start working immediately.
Why Is Training So Important?
Food handler education provides more qualified employees, reducing the risk of foodborne illness outbreaks caused by improper food preparation and handling techniques.
